Celebrating ingredients: Discover the benefits of Lemongrass in tea

The best way to enjoy lemongrass (in our humble opinion), is in tea. It contains iron, calcium, and vitamin C and is ever so tasty. It can be found in our Lemon Black Tea and Turmeric, Ginger & Lemongrass, but what are the benefits of enjoying delicious lemongrass in tea?

The benefits of enjoying lemongrass in tea

Lemongrass contains the inflammation-fighting compounds chlorogenic acid, isoorientin, and swertiajaponin. Inflammation can come up when experiencing a number of adverse health conditions, making lemongrass in tea beneficial for people to incorporate into their diet. Similarly, lemongrass also contains antioxidant properties which can help to fight free radicals in the body and boost immune health.

Lemongrass in tea can help to promote healthy digestion; easing nausea, constipation, bloating, and help to soothe your stomach to keep your digestive system on track. It’s ideal for enjoying before or after a meal, or first thing in the morning.

Origins of lemongrass

Native to Sri Lanka and much of Asia, Lemongrass has long been used in herbal medicine. Now grown all over the world, it’s a popular ingredient in tea blends. At English Tea Shop, we source our organic lemongrass from farms here in Sri Lanka, so you can enjoy the freshest and finest lemongrass in tea.

You’ll find the lemongrass plant in our Lemon Black Tea, Turmeric, Ginger & Lemongrass and Lemongrass, Citrus & Ginger blends. Which one are you going for?

Our Lemon Black Tea is all about the citrus. Once brewed, it develops an exceptional colour with clear tones of copper – making this tea sparkle in its own way. A strong and punchy taste of black Ceylon tea combines with a mellow and fragrant citrusy flavour, making a very natural and well-balanced blend. The perfect tea for a citrus lover and ideal if you’re looking to incorporate more lemongrass into your diet.

Turmeric, Ginger & Lemongrass has more of a kick. Don’t let the surprisingly light golden colour make you believe this is a weaker tea. It has a spicy and powerful scent that’s full of refined flavours. The ginger, turmeric and lemongrass pair very well together with spices such as cloves, cardamom, black pepper and cumin. There’s definitely some heat here! This blend is a perfect tea to spice up your day and to help shift a cold.

Lemongrass, Citrus & Ginger combines refreshing lemongrass with the finest Ceylon ginger and citrus for a caffeine-free boost. A cup of this fills the room with a citrusy and tangy scent. With a depth that is surprisingly powerful, this is a highly recommended blend for any citrus lover. Giving both body and fresh tones, it’s suitable for any occasion.
